The spiked Christmas give-a-thon

I know I would say this, but spiked is going from strength to strength.
We’re reaching millions of people. Our team is growing. Our voice in the media and politics is louder than it ever has been. And we couldn’t do it without you.
A lot of our readers won’t realise this, but we rely almost entirely on your donations to fund our pro-freedom, pro-democracy, pro-human journalism.
Which is why this Christmas, as we do every Christmas, we’re having a month-long spiked Christmas give-a-thon, appealing for your generous donations.
In truth, we need you more now than ever before.
A curious – and infuriating – thing is happening to publications like spiked. To publications which dare to dissent and rebel against elite orthodoxy.
Even as our audience has soared, our advertising revenue has gone down. As I told a House of Lords committee earlier this year, when I was giving evidence about the challenges facing independent media, dodgy ‘anti-disinformation’ organisations such as the Global Disinformation Index are effectively telling advertising firms not to work with sites like spiked.
This is despite us being a reputable, decades-old publication with high journalistic standards. For what it’s worth, we have a 100 per cent score on NewsGuard, another big news-rating system. (The New York Times only has an 87.5 rating there.)
But you know what? Stuff ’em. Over recent years we’ve focussed on growing our donor base and we’ve been overwhelmed by the response. You now make up the vast majority of our revenue, most giving £5 a month.
Like almost no other publication of our size, we remain free for everyone to read. Because we’re in the business of winning hearts and minds, of holding the line on the issues that matter, not flogging subscriptions.
It would be impossible for us to keep going and growing, were it not for the fact that so many of you hand over your hard-earned cash monthly or whenever you can.
So if you value what we do, if you think the media landscape is infinitely better with us in it, please donate to us this Christmas – to steel us for the year ahead.
Next year is our 25th anniversary, and we have some fantastic things up our sleeve. Plus, with an inept authoritarian in Downing Street, there is a lot to fight for.
We also have a special offer going at the moment. Anyone who donates £50 or more during the festive period will receive a free spiked mug! You’ll also get a year’s membership to spiked supporters, our online donor community.
(Regrettably, for cost reasons, mugs can only be sent to addresses within the United Kingdom.)
So please give generously to the spiked Christmas give-a-thon! We can’t thank you enough.
