About spiked

spiked is the political magazine that wants to change the world as well as report on it. Based in London, and edited by Tom Slater, we cover current affairs from a radical, democratic, pro-freedom and humanist perspective. Our chief political writer is Brendan O’Neill.

We publish daily opinion pieces on UK, US and world affairs, alongside producing long-reads, features and a growing suite of podcasts to dive deeper into the controversies and conflicts of today.

Founded in 2001, as the UK’s first online only political magazine, we have carved out an international reputation as, in the words of the New York Times, an ‘often-biting British publication fond of puncturing all manner of ideological balloons’ – fearless in challenging orthodoxy and fighting for free speech.

Our writers and editors are regular fixtures on TV and radio, appearing on the BBC, Fox News, Sky News, the ABC, GB News, and more.
