Brendan O’Neill at the Comedy Cellar
Our editor went to the legendary NY club to discuss Hollywood hysteria.
For 30 years, New York’s legendary Comedy Cellar has served as the launching pad for the greatest stand-up comedians in the world. Dave Chappelle, Ray Romano, Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, Dane Cook are just a few of the comedians who began as Cellar regulars.
But classic stage performances have never been the only show going on at the Cellar. Every week, comedians come to sit at the table upstairs to argue about and discuss world events and news. This kibitzing used to be a private affair… until it was made into a weekly podcast, Live from the Table.
On the latest Live from the Table, spiked’s editor – and non-comedian! – Brendan O’Neill joined the roundtable of Cellar regulars to talk about Louis CK, the Weinstein fallout, and why it’s time to rethink the ‘Sexual Stalinism’ sweeping the entertainment world. Listen here!
spiked is free, and it always will be, which is why we need your help. We don’t have a paywall, or bonus content for paying customers, because we want our arguments for freedom and democracy, against misanthropy and identity politics, to reach as many people as possible. Which is why we ask those of our readers who can afford it to chip in. One-off donations are hugely appreciated, but monthly donations are even better. They allow us to plan for the future and to grow. Even £5 a month is a huge help. It’s much cheaper than your average magazine subscription, and it ensures that spiked is free and open to all.
