Identity politics and Wokeness seems to me as I watch the “arguments” evolve to really be an orchestrated power grab. The revisionism that goes with it and the radicalisation of everything is an attempt to cower through often baseless and redundant argument. The most relevant example when it comes to MM is the argument about her belly grabbing that commenting on is seen as racist. Of course pregnant women do this – Kate and many others – but ALL the time? Perhaps it’s simply nerves, but it’s perfectly fair to remark on it and to criticise it. It reeks of the LookAtMe. I actually think the truly racist are the ones that claim Meghan is “black”. She isn’t, she’s mixed race if you want to be accurate. As soon as Race is left behind as a construct, racism is no more, aka the Morgan Freeman school of thought. Judge on character and don’t view through the prism of race, unless of course you’re a racialist who feels their “side” is losing…

She’s a victim of the (lack of) content of her character

Funny how people see what they want to see, think without observing what’s happening around them, and then that one and only ignorant and asinine belief that this whole country is racist. Do they not see how the demography has changed in Britain, especially in London and it’s suburbs, spreading like wild fire outwards? did they miss the love and affections that Meghan received since these two fools got together? can they not see that her head is filled with ignorant mush about the history of the black people and slavery, to the extent that everything in this country is built on racism, when people like her will never be compatible, very much like Islam to colonise and settle in a basically still white civilised land? Would she ever accept the rules and protocols of a white and powerful establishment like the Monarchy with her head so full of gunk? NO!

BON certainly likes the sound of his own voice. There is clearly racism against Markle but Harry is thick and Markle is a manipulator and social climber. Monarchy offends against natural justice. Give us a republic.

BON dominated this ‘discussion’ completely. None of the non-Aryans in the clip got a look in.

It seems the more non whites you can cram into the screen the more acceptable you think you appear to be.
They need to wait and see white reaction.

I agree with Kathleen Carr- from her appearance I assumed Markle’s ethnicity was Latin, Hellenic or Hispanic.

Some of these people who are calling criticism of Meghan racist are the very people who once criticized white women and also black men for being in mixed race relationships. These were often working class white women. These white women have never been given credit for their role in undermining racism, on the contrary, they were attacked by white and black people. The deference towards the wealthy royals Harry and Meghan by people who claim to oppose inequality, is actually not so surprising. Today’s identitarians are more interested in celebs and the rich, including rich and famous persons of colour. Harry’s strutting around in a Nazi uniform has been quietly forgotten. Meghan was given a great deal of benefit of the doubt, but the more we have seen of her the more we have seen that she is a strange and conceited woman. Estranged from her own family, bolting from her current problems, then giving ‘inspirational’ speeches to school children whose lives she knows nothing about, she hand picks her audience, she does not respond to criticism, and we are left with the clear impression that the less glamorous Royal duties, meeting the old, suburban and unfashionable, would really not be her thing. If she was as radical as she pretends to be, she would not have married into one of the whitest and most privileged families you will find.

Not being particularly a royal fan .I had assumed Meghan was part Spanish , Italian or even Welsh with her name and surname. She chose her ‘international’ wedding as the setting to proclaim her ‘blackness’ , by excluding everyone from her father’s family and only having her mother there , inviting a pastor to give a (entirely inappropriate at a wedding ) sermon etc. It is not really Meghan’s fault that what she wants-to hang out with rich pointless d(emocrat) listers with more money than sense is the opposite to the image the Royal Family like to give which is more M&S. There are some parallels with Edward and Mrs Simpson as Edward was charming and popular , so his abdication which led to his brother ( as George V1) turning into a nervous wreck and smoking himself to an early grave was usually blamed on Wallis Simpson and Meghan is getting some of that its ‘easier to blame the woman’ rather than think about Edwards/Harrys ‘ faults. However the Windsors (baring the unfortunate NAZI bit) settled down to the ex-pat life and Wallis was said to be a classy and stylish woman (she would never have written on a banana) who knew not to clash with the Royal Family. That Meghan has managed to annoy virtually all the women in the Royal Family -by up-staging etc seems to suggest that her acting career (which seems to owe more to (Emmy-award winning ) daddy’s money and connections rather than raw talent ) was never going to soar as high as she had hoped. It is never a good idea to annoy the women of the family (who neither forgive or forget) and for example turning up in green for her last engagement , when Will and Kate had just done a tour of Ireland , suggests any dislike she encounters is entirely due to her own personality .

To be fair, Meghan has one of those complex personalities that we can spend a long time speculating about. An actress can smile sweetly, say her lines get paid and go home. From what I’ve seen Meghan is not suited to politics, diplomacy or possibly any public role. She seems to admire people like the Obamas, the Clooneys and Oprah. But these people are serious operators, they know their audiences. Other celebs are more light entertainment, but Meghan wants to mould her own audience. I think of unfashionable entertainers like Manilow or Cliff Richard who appreciate there audience (or show appreciation), they are not fated by the cool crowd or politicians on the make but they are hugely popular. Harry may find himself surrounded by celebs on the make, desperate for fame, money, attention, power and popularity, things that he himself was born with. Harry’s family live in a prison with gilded bars, I can understand why he wanted out, indeed aristocratic 2nd sons are generally jettisoned unceremoniously, and he wanted to leave on his terms. The thing is I don’t need to hear about what Harry and Meghan are up to, whatever they want it’s not privacy and obscurity.

One of the young women on the film compared Meghan’s unfavourable treatment to Kate’s, but she was partial in Meghan’s favour. Kate has been hounded and scrutinized by the media, as has her family. Before marrying William a well known columnists mocked her as ‘Watey Katy’ desperately hanging on for a marriage proposal. There were snobbish references to her commoner, middle class origins, and her ‘nouveau riche’ parents. Kate’s solid middle class origins have served her well and she has weathered the storm, this has earned her a grudging respect by some of the media, she must be aware that this can change quickly too.
Identity politics does lead to a kind of ignorance or even callous indifference to people who are not in your group, who do not suffer like you suffer. Certainly for black people even born and raised in the UK the gradations of the class system can be a mystery, the idea that Kate could be the victim of class prejudice is something they might struggle to get their heads around.
