Topics Politics UK

Brendan O’Neill tells Julia Hartley-Brewer that the media’s unhinged crusade against Dominic Cummings is worse than anything Cummings himself has done.

They say there are two guarantees in life, death and taxes. Add one more, the growth and domination of the liberal lefty vermin. As we should have noticed in the last 40 years the change in attitude of the young because they have had no experience of the disastrous creation of multiculturalism, where the one time minority BAME are almost the majority. The powers they hold purely because of the sheer numbers flooding these shores and breeding so rapidly, they will be voting their own kind into high office of every part of this country. Look about, it is happening now.
Hence, not too long from now the right of centre mob will soon vanish, and the proof is the recent news of Kanye West is standing for US President. AND! it is so unstoppable.

This is the Remainers last throw of the dice. The idea is for the media to create a constant howl of derision and contempt for Boris and the Tories from now until the next election, get Starmer in and bingo, we’re straight back into the EU.
Since the referendum the Mail has a new editor and the paper is now viciously anti-Johnson. The Sunday Times has a new editor also and is now Remain. Plus, the Express and Star have been bought out by the Mirror group and can be switched to Remain at any time.
The idea being that people will say “Gosh, if the Mail and Express say Boris is bad I suppose he must be”, and consider voting for Max Headroom, who will be given the warm approving comments from the media.
The broadcast media, it goes without saying, have always been 100% Remain.
It is essentially an attempt at a media led coup against a democratically elected government. The Cummings witch hunt is part of this and if JHB can’t see this she needs to go visit specsavers.

JHB seems pissed off that she’s not been able to see her poorly mum.
What seems to have escaped her attention is that neither did Cummings see his parents, since he was self-isolating a ahort distance away, having sorted out care for his child.
Bit of a shame, as JHB is normally sound, but this one seems to have scrambled her marbles.

Dominic Cummings might have ‘pushed the envelope’ a bit as regards interpretation of the lockdown guidelines – not rules, guidelines – but the whole witch-hunt is mainly boils down to Remain vs Brexit – the remoaners seizing this chance as possibly their last chance to scupper Brexit. That’s what it’s really all about. The deep sores have been re-opened. J-HB is slightly on the wrong side of this chasm, I’m sorry to say – I admire her for her non-tribalism, but to pretend this isn’t about rabid Brexit-hatred is a bit naive.

How does Cumming’s mortal sin compare with the asinine demonstrations involving many thousands hardly a foot apart, thousands of commuters crammed in like sardines travelling on trains, trams, buses and planes, not to forget these suicidal fools who infest the beaches everytime the sun smiles on us. This country is 90% infantile and insane.

I’m not from the UK, but I can see now why Giles Fraser asked JHB on his podcast if anything ever shuts her up… Those sort of monologues are very tiring.

Julia H-B got the better of Brendan here. Brendan is left with a real politic argument. Johnson looks weakened by the electorate, but would be weakened strategically by losing Cummings, this would give succour to his opponents, and leave him exposed. I’d keep Cummings for real politic reasons but that’s a hard sell.
