This afternoon, students at the University of Toronto are staging a protest against comments made by Dr Jordan Peterson, a professor at the university. Peterson recently released a series of online lectures, arguing against what he describes as ‘PC indoctrination’ on university campuses, and rejecting the idea that academics should be expected to use students’ preferred gender pronouns when speaking with them. He also criticised the draconian Bill C-16, which seeks to criminalise transphobic speech in Canada. Here, Peterson talks to spiked’s Ella Whelan about why he’s making a stand for free speech.
