Given his longstanding promise never to travel anywhere that ‘cannot be reached by coracle or foot’, it is rare for spiked columnist Ethan Greenhart to make a public appearance. His humiliating experience of trying to launch his Manifesto Against Domination of Mother Earth and Nature (MADMEN) during the 2005 General Election further convinced him that engaging with the public is a waste of CO2 (breath).

However, two recent earth-shattering events – the collapse of the global markets and the publication of Ethan’s own eco-advice book Can I Recycle My Granny and 39 Other Eco-Dilemmas – have convinced him to emerge from his ethical shell.

On 8 October, Ethan and his Gaia Choir made an impromptu and wildly popular appearance at Ambrosia’s Vegan Cafe on the outskirts of Brighton to sing the song that they believe provides the solution to the credit crunch: ‘Why Won’t The Humans Die Out?’ Listen to it below.

Ethan Greenhart’s book Can I Recycle my Granny? and 39 Other Eco-Dilemmas is published by Hodder & Stoughton in October (for more details, visit Amazon(UK)). Ethan is here to answer all your questions about ethical living in the twenty-first century. Email him {encode=”Ethan.Greenhart@spiked-online.com” title=”here”}. Read his earlier columns here.
