Fully established in May 2007, Twitter is now a ‘real-time’ short messaging service that functions over ‘multiple networks and devices’. It is used by individuals, organisations, businesses and political organisations worldwide. A tweet, a form of micro blogging, is compromised of no more than 140 characters and can be uploaded via instant messaging services, the World Wide Web and mobile phone technology.
