The week-long No Borders camp in solidarity with undocumented migrants in Calais culminated in a lively demonstration. Many local residents came out to watch the spectacle, practically tumbling out of their windows to get a better look. Residents even let photographers and cameramen into their flats for a better vantage point. Others helped refill protesters’ water bottles. Protesters urged them to join in, but I did not see anyone convinced to do so.
