Seth Lloyd
professor of mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Science is the uniquely public form of knowledge

I should teach the world that science is the uniquely public form of knowledge. Scientific knowledge consists exactly of those results that can be verified by anyone who puts in the effort to check them. You do not have to be a scientist to do science - you can be a child, a computer, or an intelligent rat. As long as you can verify a result, it is part of science.

Seth Lloyd is author of Programming the Universe: From the Big Bang to Quantum Computers (buy this book from Amazon (UK)), and a contributor to Extra: How Many Extra Layers Can We Graft Onto Reality Before It Collapses? (buy this book from Amazon (UK) or Amazon (USA)).
