Professor Charles K Kao
chair and chief executive of ITx Services, former vice chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and pioneer in the field of fibre optics in telecommunications
To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction

I should teach the world that to every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Apply this to the modern world of technology, and we find the following. Remove energy from the Earth, in the extraction of oil, and the glaciers melt. Remove trees, and the Earth moves, to bury the innocent with the guilty. The forest burns, and new life emerges. All actions have a consequence, for good or for evil.

Charles Kao is author of books including A Choice Fulfilled: The Business of High Technology (buy this book from Amazon (UK) or Amazon (USA)), and Optical Fibre Systems: Technology, Design and Application (buy this book from Amazon (UK) or Amazon (USA)).
