Lemon juice as contraceptive and AIDS treatment
[23-Jun-2005]
Following Michael Baum's question and Peter Fisher's answer, lemon juice may be helpful as a contraceptive and also as a killer of the AIDS virus, according to Australian researchers. According to Roger Short, a reproductive physiologist at the University of Melbourne, laboratory tests found that lemon juice kills both sperm and the AIDS virus. See the Enough Rope with Andrew Denton interview with Roger Short.

Lemon juice, this amazing gift from a tree, has unbelievable properties. It kills the bacterium that causes puss in wounds, instantly and without any serious side effects. It's great for putting on spots and sores. It's a powerful, instant antibacterial. We've used it for many years, neat and directly from a fresh lemon, to treat occasional spots.

One of our bull terriers, Lucy, developed a very bad vulva infection, which was oozing puss. Lucy had two lots of antibiotics from the vet, which didn't cure her. I used a large syringe, with a long soft rubber applicator - the type used for artificial insemination, and force-feeding young farmyard animals. I used half a freshly squeezed lemon, and the next day, the infection was gone. One more injection, and the problem completely resolved itself.

I've used lemon juice successfully since, to treat every single vulva infection in my bull terriers - including a severe infection, in a bitch that had been mated to an infected dog - with zero side effects. Again, treated twice, the infection disappeared as quick as it emerged.

We looked after our friend's three bullies for four days. Lewis had a bad eye infection, with puss in both eyes. I bathed his eyes with one part lemon juice and 10 parts water. The next day, his eyes were clear, with no puss evident. To make sure the strength was okay, I tested it in my own eyes. It did sting a little, but it had no lasting discomfort. The next day, both of his eyes were clear. One more application of this magic formula from nature, and his infection was completely resolved.

Rubbing lemon juice all over a bully's coat and legs, before you go for country walks, discourages flees and ticks. I've also used lemon juice to clean wounds on myself. To see just how effective lemon juice is at killing and immobilising sperm, or indeed infection, see the video Lemon juice: a natural contraceptive (.mov 2.44 MB). I can vouch that this is a real-time video, having observed dog sperm under my microscope on many occasions.
